Mom's The Word: In The News

HAVE YOU HEARD?

“MOM’S THE WORD” PARENTING TALK SHOW IS INVITING PARENTS TO
BUILD A BETTER GENERATION!

Castle Rock, Colorado – August, 2008 – “Mom’s The Word,” that fun, intelligent, cutting-edge talk show that covers today’s pressing parenting issues, which made its debut last fall on Castle Rock Radio (www.castlerockradio.com,) has now started an exciting and much-needed movement among parents.  Through knowledgeable experts, core values, a no-nonsense approach to parenting, and some honest, if not harsh words, the hosts, Maureen Brown and Maura Ridder, have galvanized thousands of parents into re-thinking the way they raise their children.

The hosts are entirely “fed up with the excessive and permissive” parenting style of today’s generation of children.  They want to see parents get “back to basics” and stop the “over-parenting” and the “madness.”  According to the hosts, today’s generation is over-indulged, and they lack many of the virtues their parents and grandparents had.  There is a shared feeling that today’s children have lost a sense of responsibility and respect, and gained an over-inflated sense of entitlement.  Mom’s The Word is  challenging and inspiring parents to change things.

Maureen and Maura have appeared on several local news and talk-shows to discuss their ambitious plans to “change a generation.”  They have been met with unanimous nods of approval from their listeners.  According to Brown, “It seems like everyone agrees that our children are losing their way, but nobody knows what to do.”  That is where Mom’s The Word comes in.  “We have the tools, the information, and the backgrounds to help parents successfully turn their children into independent, productive, and, consequently, happy members of society.” says Ridder.  “People just need to tune in and listen.”

It appears people are not only listening, but responding as well.  Mom’s The Word receives hundreds of emails a week regarding the “daily dilemma” that they pose to their listeners each show.  Such topics include: slacking babysitters, children’s rights to privacy, appropriate ages for independence, cell phones, and i-pods, appropriate birthday parties, sleepover etiquette, playground etiquette, allowances, and plenty more.  They attempt to read most of the emails on the air, and personally answer each email.

The show is broadcast live nationally and internationally every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Mountain Time.  Maura Ridder and Maureen Brown, together with Stay-at-Work Professional Correspondent D Berger fill a much needed void by giving parents a place to go to get advice for kids of all ages.  This is not your typical talk show.  These moms have an opinion, and are not afraid to share it.  They provide much needed strong advice that every parent needs to hear… whether they want to or not.

Ridder, a mother of three girls, former prosecutor and family law attorney, and musical theatre director, choreographer and performer; Brown, a mother of five children, former  Insurance Underwriter, and All-American athlete; and D Berger, a stay-at-work mother of two as well as the Managing Director and Global Chair of the Women's International Network (WIN) of Aon Corporation all work together to educate people on parenting in a fun, yet intelligent environment.   The topics are fresh and timely, and the goal is to arm parents with the expert advice they need, in an entertaining, thought-provoking forum.

Each show features guests including parenting experts, celebrities, authors and athletes.  Past guests have included: Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr., Actor John O’Hurley, Photographer Anne Geddes, Pro-Athlete Gabby Reece, Broadway Star Andrea McArdle, Today show travel editor Peter Greenberg, Celebrity Trainer Kathy Kaehler, Author Barbara Parks, Author Jodee Blanco, Author Jill Conner Browne, Singer Lisa Dames, Love and Logic Founder and author, Dr. Charles Fay, Author Libby McDonald, Author Meg Wolitzer, Oprah’s Big Give Winner Steve Paletta, and more.

Listen to Mom’s The Word each Wednesday, log onto their website, learn more, and join the movement.  Together, we can “build a better generation…. one show at a time.”
