Maura and Maureen

How Mom’s The Word came to be:

Maura was encouraged by family and friends to write a book on parenting.  People were constantly asking her advice on how to raise their children, and she readily supplied it.  Eventually, she began to write her book, but the “chapters” turned into “episodes.”  She realized that she needed a forum to talk rather than write.  She then discovered Castle Rock Radio and pitched her idea for a parenting talk show, and they loved it!

Maureen had recently moved to the Denver area from the mountains.  She met Maura at their eldest daughters’ soccer practice.  They started talking right away and hit it off.  The next year, their children all attended the same school.  They found themselves talking daily about their children.  They discussed everything from their events, activities, health, and schooling, to their peer groups, ailments and sleepovers.  One day, Maura approached Maureen and asked her if she wanted to co-host a parenting talk show with her, and the rest is history.
